I used to come on here a while ago and I looove John/Elizabeth stories! I don't come on livejournal much anymore but a while ago I found an old Sheppard/Weir fic that I started and finished in 2006. I just want to vent for a moment. I have been browsing/searching the huge world of fanfiction for over a week now, trying to find stories with certain themes/categories/criteria and one thing really irks me. Non-existent Summaries! When I am trying to find fic that has certain topics or scenes in it, I need more details than just "missing scene for this episode" or "Daniel reflects" or "What would Jack do?" etc.
If I am going to be starting to read a fic that is hundreds of pages long, I need to know if it is going to be something I am interested in before I start! There are at least a hundred fics on my hard drive already, but most of them I am just taking a chance on because they are labeled as "Angst, H/C, Slash" but that describes half of all SG-1 fic for cryin' out loud! :P
Does anyone else have pet peeves when it comes to fanfic?

Hi people...I'm really hoping for some help here (and I hope this is the correct place to do it)
I was really into Stargate fanfiction for qutie some time, unfortunately this was several years ago and gave way to a long lived and passionate relationship with the LOTR fandom (

lotrips_finders) . With that in mind it's been years since I've spent any specific time in this community (like 6ish) with the exception of a very few well beloved stories (ex: Brionhet's "Tide Pool Series") that I would ocasionally come back to when the mood struck.

SO my request is this: I'm looking for what you might call the "classics" of the fandom. Stories that are a "Must" for any serious fan of the stargate (slash) fandom...stories you come back to or remember or that come to mind when you think of your favorites. It will be interesting to see if any of the stories I remember, or were new(ish) when I was first around, pop up.
Specifically I am looking for slash for the most part, but my main requirement is that I'm looking for stories that focus around Daniel (and his relationship with Jack- friendship or slash). Also, as I stopped watching the show not long after I stopped reading fiction, for now I'm not really looking for stories that are set within the more current seasons (like 8 through the newer movies that have been released), with the exception of well written stories that are self explainatory as far as their setting and current affairs, or that don't really fit into any specific time line as far as the general plot is concerned. Finally, I have very few squicks and welcome anything that comes to mind- angst is a particular favorite of mine.

Please, I really hope that you can help (and I'm sorry if this isn't the correct place for this)...I've really had a yen for stargate fiction lately, and it's been so long since I I've been around I'm not sure where to look (I really hope that you guys weren't struck as critical a blow as LOTR with the shutdown of Geocities...although I fear that might be the case with most of the older fandoms).

Why This Must Be Read: Were those pods really safe? A lengthy tag to Aurora, in which Sheppard doesn't fair so well and Rodney blames himself. I'm a sucker for stories that stretch the comfort aspect of hurt/comfort, exploring the aftermath of some pretty hefty hurt instead of glossing it over or jumping to an epilogue with everyone healed and happy. Emrys1 does a wonderful job of showing the consequences of what John goes through, and that healing - both mental and physical - takes time and understanding. It also contains some great Sheppard and Rodney friendship moments.

I had this demented idea last night when I was dreaming. I want to read a fic where Daniel is tied (spread-eagle?) to the stargate itself, and then threatened with the gate dialing. You know, so that when it dials another gate, the splash thing will disintigrate him! 0___0 Well, it could be a major sexy game, or whatever. It was just an idea, but it would be hard to make it work, what with the gate being under guard and in use all the time. If there isn't a fic with this type of thing, and you feel compelled to write one, let me know where it is so I can read it! ;)

Amanda's interview with SciFiPulse on BlogTalkRadio,which aired yesterday, is posted here for download. It's episode 42. Her interview appears at the beginning of the show (after a two minute introduction to the overall show itself) and lasts about 30 minutes.

My favorite part, and most amazing-wonderful-beautiful thing I've heard Amanda say all year is the section around the 20 minute mark where she speaks to Helen's connections with powerful and forward-thinking women throughout history and how (paraphrasing) "it would be boring to be 158 years old and to only have been with men."

Rock on Amanda! You are so amazing to get this, and to say it in an interview is just the cat's meow.

A heartbreaking to heartwarming trio of Rodney/Radek fics. The first, Go Away, is quite dark, Cold is, well, cold, nearly enough to leave the reader shivering. And Liar Liar makes everything better. I'm a sucker for this type of fic, myself, and both men feel very believable. Angsty!Radek and, as is often the case, somewhat clueless!Rodney feature. An excellent short series.
